Game Asylum LLC is seeking government grants to cover initial startup costs, estimating a total of $99,990 for the first year. Funding will be allocated for a variety of expenses including rent, utilities, wages, displays, furniture, and inventory. Key costs outlined include $55,000 for building deposit and rent, with additional expenses for computers, cameras, lighting, furniture, marketing, and inventory of games and snacks.
The business plan suggests strong growth potential for the board game market, projected at 12.16% annually over the next four years. Local market trends indicate a 16% increase in toy and game sales in Reno, aligning with national trends. Game Asylum plans to leverage social media and engage in community sponsorships to promote their initiative.
Game Asylum aims to create a welcoming space for families, offering activities beyond just a game store; it intends to be a hub for game nights, birthday parties, and community events. The vision includes hosting artists and live game demonstrations, ensuring ongoing engagement for patrons.
Despite the presence of several competitors in the Reno/Sparks area, the founders believe Game Asylum's unique approach distinguishes them. They emphasize creating a bright and inviting environment, unlike traditional game stores, positioning themselves as a community-centric establishment that welcomes all.

Business Plan
According to businesswire it is expected that the board game marked will grow at an estimated 12.16% for the next 4 years. In Reno, the most recent details show that in 2021 toy and game sales increased by 16% and appeared to be trending upward. This is the same trend Nationally. We plan to utilize all social media platforms for promotion, sponsorship of local school D&D and Chess Clubs and community events. This is a FAMILY. We want to bring the community into our family. Pop's would be opening our home to the community. We plan on multiple revenue streams to make this more than a game store, more than a "paint 'n sip", more than a maker's space, more than an art gallery, even more than a craft fair. This will be the place families go to for Family Game Night, Birthday Parties will be held here. The after school hang out. The late-night game shop. Where Mom or Grandpa can bring the teenager to play Magic the Gathering and sit in a comfortable couch or rocking chair and read books to the toddlers, or do a puzzle or craft. We will have artists come in-house. We will have game demonstrations of both classic and new games. These will be recorded live and can be participated in online with our patreons. There will always be something going on, and everyone will be welcome.

Self Identified Competition
Reno/Sparks area has several other Game Stores Game Kastle (Northwest) Decent store, wide range of games, not a great location Games Galore (Mall) two stores in the mall, mainstream and geekdom, strong following Nerdvana Games (near the mall) small store, focused mainly on Magic the Gathering Comic Kingdom (Moana Lane)-More Comics than games, not really a competitor Warhammer (Summit Mall)-Only sells Games Workshop Kobold’s Keep (Sparks)-Focused on Tabletop wargames. Small, new store. Other than Warhammer, which only sells Games Workshop products (which we do not intend to sell) there are no other game stores within 5 miles of our chosen location. This is like nothing else. We don't have competitors- some businesses may have features like some of ours, but no one is doing what we want to do. We will offer so much more than games and retail. This won't be the smelly, dark, crowded place where D&D or Magic the gathering is played. This will be an open, friendly place all people will want to come to.
