  • Funding Usage

The plushies that I create are by far the largest profit margin compared to any other products, but they take a very long time and a lot of money up front. We have done two successful Kickstarters so far, one called the Cork (corgi + shark) plush that we needed $15,000 to get them produced and we made $36,000 (a total of 42,000 once everything was sold). Each unit cost us $9.45 and we sold them for $35. The second Kickstarter we needed $20,000 and made $38,000 (totaling $50,000 and counting because we still have inventory we are currently selling). Each unit costing us $15.50 and we sold them for $45. A big problem I'm facing is once we run out, we have to do the process all over again. So we are currently out of stock of the first stuffed animal. We are very capable of selling the product, and have the collective following of over 350,000 followers across different social media platforms that are eager to buy more plushies. But having to crowd fund upfront for the cost of the plushies takes time and Kickstarter takes 10% off the top which is money we could use elsewhere more productively. If I had a small business loan, the interest would be lower than the cost it takes to use Kickstarter. I need roughly $22,000 for restocking the first plush, and then $20,000 towards the next two plushies we already have in prototype phase. And the remaining $8,000 would go towards paying my employee and newer types of product that is a lower cost for buy in such as notebooks, stationary, magnets etc.

  • Business Plan

I have been doing this since the pandemic hit, and in those three small years I have watched this business flourish and grow to amazing heights. The community, local and on the internet, continues to grow. I plan to continue trail-blazing towards greater achievements like having my stuffed animals and other product in stores, having my own warehouse space for order fulfillment that isn't my at home office (that I'm already out growing). I will have workshops and classes for all ages of the community that inspire to create in a safe space. Financially, the numbers are there. The first two solid years of conducting business, my business made 109,000 and 138,000 and this year I'm projecting to make closer to 200,000. So the numbers are logically there and staying consistent, if not exceeding expectations. The money for the plushies will very easily be able to pay for any loans. On a more personal and human note, I'm a content creator that spreads positivity, a proud woman small business owner, and an artist that is sharing joy and inspiration to the world. My outreach is vast and growing every day. My packaging and business morals are very eco-friendly, with recycled, recyclable and compostable materials. I'm real. I'm kind. I'm hard working, and very good at surrounding myself with the right people for the job that needs to be done.

  • Self Identified Competition

Theoretically there aren't many major competitors that are making Mashables-like creatures as their main brand. This whole concept is one of those "why didn't I think of that" kind of ideas. Where it is obvious and a great idea, but there isn't really anyone that is doing exactly what I'm doing mainstream. Any company that is doing something similar to what I'm doing doesn't have a very key element that I have, which is me. Sounds egotistical but the Meg's Mashables brand is not just cute creatures that you can adopt and have matching stickers, coloring books, pins etc, you have the artist who is also the spokesperson that is entertaining and excited to share her world with you. That's what makes me stand out from other companies. Meg's Mashables is not just a product, it's a world with a representative at the forefront.
