  • Funding Usage

Public education is central to the work I do. Funding is requested to further my education in public speaking. Specifically, speaking with clarity and confidence and presenting clear and engaging messaging. I have already benefited from training and would like to continue in an advanced speaking mentorship program designed to advance my business.

  • Business Plan

The death positivity aspect of the death care industry is experiencing explosive growth. Leaving Well is heavily focused on educating individuals to take control of the array of death care decisions that we each will make. Decisions that include personal choices and environmental responsibility. The education acquired through community, statewide and national education, will create informed consumers, many of whom will be interested in alternatives to our traditional options. I lecture publicly and I provide services in line with these ideals. The more people are educated, the more they will seek my services. As the industry grows, Leaving Well grows. Leaving Well offers and promotes services that literally anyone can benefit from. All of us, including investors, will engage with the death care industry in one form or another. We are living at a time when individuals are embracing their autonomy and looking for options that resonate with personal ideals; individual choices, environmental concerns, and financial concerns. We should all know that we have the right to make choices about how we die and how we are cared for after our death, as well as how we might make choices that promote environmentally healthy behaviors. Leaving Well empowers people to confront death and plan for the future with confidence. We need engaging, captivating educators who can inform and inspire our communities to choose death-care options that will benefit individuals, communities and our environment. I want to be that kind of educator. I am doing what I can on my own, but I need some help.

  • Self Identified Competition

Locally, nobody is doing the educational work that I am doing. I am unaware of anyone in the state of Montana who is seeking to do work similar to my own, on the level that I am doing it. On a national scale, and far above me (I can't consider them as competitors), there are some well-known educators. Alua Arthur of Going with Grace-"As the founder of Going With Grace, Arthur guides individuals and families and reframes the conversation to help people think about what they value most in life." Caitlyn Doughty- "Caitlin Doughty is a mortician, writer, and advocate for funeral industry reform." Lee Webster-"is an author, educator, and internationally known public speaker and advocate for funeral reform, including home funerals and green burial." We don't necessarily need different, we need more. Each of the "competitors" that I listed brings something special to the table because of their own unique set of life experiences. I too, bring a unique viewpoint that many value. They have larger realms of influence than I do, at least for now. I need mentorship to help me get to the next level and to reach more people.
