Schmidtberger Ranch LLC 88-2323905 | Government Grant Application

Schmidtberger Ranch LLC | Application Preview

Schmidtberger Ranch LLC is applying for government grants to support the growth and management of its regenerative ranching operations. The funding will be used for initiatives like seed and no-till planting for cover and rotational crops, building fencing and infrastructure, and expanding the livestock herd. Additionally, it may cover the purchase of tools and materials, as well as labor costs.

The business plan emphasizes continued regenerative practices over the next five years, with goals to enhance capital, implement crop rotations, restore native grasses, develop herd genetics, and expand business networks. Building relationships in the industry is seen as vital for increasing livestock sales and ensuring long-term success.

As a U.S. Marine Veteran, the owner highlights traits such as dedication and discipline, alongside a commitment to sustainable food production and environmental stewardship. The application argues that regenerative methods will improve soil quality and create a healthier environment for livestock, appealing to consumers who value transparency in food production.

In terms of competition, the ranch faces challenges from local livestock and crop producers, particularly in beef sales. While competition is less intense for goats, other farming operations dominate the area. A significant disadvantage is limited capital resources.

The competitive edge lies in the owner’s youth and willingness to adopt innovative practices that contrast with the older, traditional methods of local competitors, many of whom are more than 65 years old. Schmidtberger Ranch LLC aims to restore land to its native condition through conservation techniques that enhance soil health. This approach not only supports crop and livestock health but also meets consumer demand for clean, high-quality produce.

My plan for funding would include continued growth and management of regenerative ranching methods. I would utilize funding to provide seed and no till planting for cover and rotational crops. I plan on continuing to build fencing and livestock infrastructure, as well as growing the herd and flock sizes. As different projects arise, I may utilize funds for tool or material purchases, including labor costs.

  • Business Plan

My plan for business growth the next five years includes continued practice of regenerative ranching, increasing capital, no till crop planting, crop rotations, restoring native grasses, growth in herd sizes, development of herd genetics, increased land, outreach and business contacts with those in the same industries. Making business contacts will be key in progressing my livestock sales, which will be a long term benefit for continued success. As a U.S. Marine Veteran, I have dedication, discipline, and drive to complete tasks and goals. I am passionate about clean, healthy food production as well as being a good steward of land. With practicing regenerative ranching methods, this will provide better soil quality, including a healthier environment for livestock. Investors who want to know where their food is planted, produced, and processed will appreciate the practices I've implemented and my plan moving forward to provide clean, healthy products.

  • Self Identified Competition

My competitors would be livestock and crop producers in my area. This would include beef sales, as well as other neighbors who own and sell cattle. Goat competitors are not as common, but there are still a few in my area. Most competition will be farming, as it is most common in my area. The disadvantage I have is capital. The average producer in my area is 65 years or older and have used outdated agricultural practices for decades that have not benefitted overall health regarding the land and consumer. There is a close-minded approach to agriculture business in my area. At 36 years old, I have the energy and open-mindedness to see that there are new and innovative ways to maximize my land to produce a clean and healthy product for the consumer. I am different than my competitors in the management aspect. I practice regenerative ranching methods and want to restore my land to its best, and native condition. Conservation methods, including soil health, is not practiced in my area. These methods also provide a safe, healthy environment for crops and livestock to thrive in, which will be a benefit to the consumer while maximizing the potential of the land.
