Blueprint MKE LLC | Application Preview
Blueprint MKE LLC is seeking government grants primarily to acquire necessary equipment and cover job materials. The owner plans to initially focus on local small businesses, leveraging a few existing contracts to establish a customer base. Over the next five years, the business aims to expand operations to the point of hiring additional employees.
With a decade of experience in the striping industry, the owner has gained extensive knowledge in construction and machinery. This expertise has made him confident in his ability to operate and maintain equipment, as well as accurately lay out parking areas.
In terms of competition, the owner currently works for one of the competitors while identifying Parking Lot Maintenance (PLM) and Zignego as key players in the area. While PLM typically handles larger jobs, such as resealing or repaving deteriorating parking lots, Zignego focuses on substantial new construction projects.
Blueprint MKE's competitive advantage lies in its local focus. Competing companies are situated outside Milwaukee and are often preoccupied with larger contracts, leaving opportunities for smaller projects untapped. The owner intends to cater to local businesses and collaborate with paving companies lacking in-house striping services, positioning Blueprint MKE to thrive in the local market for years to come.

Business Plan
I plan on starting with other local small bussineses first, and building my customer base locally. I have a few small contracts lined up ready to go at the moment. So I figure in the next 5 years it's just a matter of taking on more work to the point that I will need to hire employees to take on some of the work load. I've been in the striping trade for 10 years working for another company. In that time I've learned so much about construction, machinery, and just overall knowledge about the trade. It's all very second nature to me, how the machines work, how to work on the machines, how to layout a parking lot, all the mathematical arithmetic etc.. its all engraved in my head. I love my job it was just a matter of time before I started my own business!

Self Identified Competition
Well I work for one of them. The other two I would say is Parking Lot Maintenance (PLM) and maybe Zignego. When someone hires PLM is mainly because their parking lot is in bad shape and they need to reseal it or repave it. Zignego does a lot of concrete parking lot, but same thing, they mostly do big new construction jobs. All of my competitors are located outside of my city (Milwaukee). They are also too busy with bigger jobs to have the time to take on small work that I would focus on. I want to start locally with other small businesses. I would also do work with other small paving companies that don't have there own striping division such as Eaton. My city is big enough to keep me busy locally for years to come with out having to do work outside of it.
