  • Funding Usage

Within the next few months, we are seeing out a bigger store to move to. We have already outgrown our current location. The new store that we are looking to move to has the capabilities to build a second floor. This is part of our 5 year plan. We would like to sign a lease for 5 years, and during that time work to expand to have two floors. We would use one floor as retail - which means we would need a lot more product. More product means more profit! We would then use the second floor as play space - so that there is a lot of room for people to play any size game that they want. This dream is only possible if we are able to move to this new place, and the funding would help make that possible. Additionally, we are working to expand our community. We are very active on social media, and are part of one of the largest NJ Discord servers that helps draw traffic to our store. We run weekly tournaments for all games, but with a bigger space and more tables, we might be able to run two in one weekend, or open up more spots for the popular tournaments! Currently, the store has no employees. I manage and run my store and do not pay myself. The goal is within the next year, to be able to have enough store profit to pay myself, and within 2-3 years, have the ability to hire one or two employees to help run the store. We are looking to expand our customer base, and our staff so that we are well-rounded in every aspect. The Wargamers Guild plans to use this funding to pay rent, increase inventory, and procure a new and bigger space! We have many products that we would like to bring into the store, but we need the money to do that. By bringing in new product lines, we would be increasing out monthly revenue greatly. Not only that, but we would be able to provide our customers with some highly requested products! We have been in our space for over 6 months, and we are already in need of new space. We have so many people coming to play that we could use a little bit more space. We have been in talks with our landlord about moving to a new and bigger unit, and this funding would help us accomplish that.

We are looking to expand our customer base, and our staff so that we are well-rounded in every aspect. The Wargamers Guild is so much more than a business. It is a place for many to unwind after work, and spend a little bit of time doing what they love. Additionally, this is my dream. My dream is to have a place for wargamers to play. Historically in the wargaming community, we are not treated fairly in traditional game stores. Often, other games like Magic the Gathering or Pokemon take precedence. Often, wargamers feel like the nomads and like they don't fit in or that the stores they play at view them as second rate customers. All I want to do is provide people with a place to play where they are welcomed and valued. My dream has always been to own my own business, and I am finally in the process of achieving that dream, while also giving people the store of their dreams. We are a young store, but we are 100% community based. We strive to provide a place for people to come, be themselves and completely unwind. I want to be humble, but we have heard from many customers that our store is just different from other hobby stores in the area. We have a different and unique atmosphere that has people coming to play with us from all over the tri-state area. We have many loyal customers who drive over 30 minutes to come to our store because it is where they feel welcome, cared for and like they can be themselves. We want people to feel like The Wargamers Guild is for THEM not for me. It is a "Guild" a place of community, of people. We are community centered first, and that is what keeps our customers loyal. By investing in me and my store, not only are you helping ensure that we are able to stick around, expand and become a better profitable store, but you are investing in a community of people.

  • Self Identified Competition

Top Deck Games: Top Deck is about 40 - 60 minutes South of us. Top Deck is a game store in the area. They are focused on providing an environment for all games, and do not particularly focus on one genre. Top Deck also charges to play in there store. Although Top Deck isn't too far away, because they are spread out among various games, they aren't too much of a danger. Koros Wargames: Koros Wargames is similar to The Wargamers Guild. Koros is a Wargaming dedicated store just like us. However, they are a pretty small store and can only accommodate about 6-8 games at a time. We are able to accommodate 9 - 12 games depending on the size of the game. Koros is about 40 minutes North of our store. Mythicos Studios: Mythicos Studios is about 1.5 hours from our store, and is probably the store that is most similar to ours. They also run a lot of events and focus on Wargaming as well. We are friendly with the owners of Mythicos, and often work together to make sure our events do not overlap so we are not competing for tournament attendance! Although they are most similar to us, the distance between us is substantial. We are unique because we do not require people to pay just to play at our store. We believe that if you treat the customer right, they will turn around and treat the store right by continuing to support you. This has proven true! We do offer an optional membership that provides additional benefits to the customer. We have an ample amount of space for people to play. Though we need more, there is almost always a spot for someone to play. This is rare in many stores, as most stores fill up with product and limited seating. As mentioned earlier, we always put out customers first. We are open 4pm - 10pm daily, but many nights we stay open later so that people can finish their games. We never kick anyone out if they are midgame, and are happy to accommodate them!
