Live Like a Dog | Application Preview
Live Like a Dog is applying for government grants to support the completion of three educational workbooks and the fourth installment of the Promoting Animal Welfare in Schools (PAWS) program, specifically the book titled "My Dog and Me," set for publication in July 2023. The funds are needed to cover unexpectedly high production costs after the founder has already self-funded much of the project.
The PAWS program aims to educate children about compassion for animals through a series of children's books. The founder has utilized book and product sales to finance some aspects of the program but requires additional funding to finalize the remaining materials. The initiative is intended to be gifted to the City of Weslaco, Texas, which has agreed to implement the program. All materials have been translated into Spanish and are being promoted through local media.
The application emphasizes the enduring love people have for pets and the urgent need to address the ongoing stray overpopulation crisis. With over a decade of experience in animal rescue and a strong desire to inspire a new generation of animal lovers, the founder believes that this program can foster compassion in children, benefiting both animals and people. The curriculum also has potential as a diagnostic tool for identifying children who may need additional support.
The business faces no direct competition and is uniquely positioned through established connections with large pharmaceutical companies in the animal health industry, local veterinarians, and a nonprofit animal rescue organization. The founder has personally authored all the educational materials and donates a significant portion of sales from related products to support animal charities.
Live Like a Dog seeks funding to accelerate the development of educational resources aimed at promoting animal welfare in schools, emphasizing a commitment to bettering the lives of animals and children alike. The founder is eager to present the program's outline and objectives in detail, highlighting the positive impact it has already made in communities across the country.

Funding Usage
To complete the development and production of 3 educational workbooks and the 4th book of the Promoting Animal Welfare in Schools (PAWS) program. The 4th book "My Dog and Me" is due to publish in July 2023 along with the lesson plans and other custom material. The material is very costly to produce and so far, I have funded the entire project and this last part is more costly than I expected.

Business Plan
All organizations that serve communities would benefit from the Promoting Animal Welfare in Schools Program. The program is a series of published Children's books written by me to help teach compassion for animals. My book sales and product sales have funded helped fund some of material cost so far but to complete the creation of this material, I will need funding. I will gift this wonderful program to the City of Weslaco, TX which has already committed to implement the parts that are currently available. All my material has been translated into Spanish and is currently being feature on Channel 5 Spanish station this morning by an Animal Care Officer. The pet industry is recession proof and has proven this over and over. People love their pets. The stray overpopulation problem in our country is a never ending problem. After over a decade in rescue, while maintaining a professional day job(I'm tired), I finally realized that unless I create a new generation of animal lovers that believe in humane care, I will never leave this world a better place for the animals and children I love so much. I have to find my replacement. I am 57 years old and the children I teach today will be ready to take over when I am ready to leave. The impact this program has made on the communities I have had the honor to speak to will last a life time. We need this curriculum in our schools! It not only teaches children to treat animals better but people too. It can also be used as a diagnostic tool to identify children who need more help. Please look at my website ( which needs help too:). I am at a point that I need to hire more people to help me complete this mission due to my time restraints with my corporate job. I am happy to do a presentation for you with the outline of the program and all the material that has been created so far and who is using it. So far, my company has recognized the PAWS program along with several Veterinarians, city municipalities and animal rescue groups across the country. Please help me get this program completed. The world needs it more than the words on this page can express.

Self Identified Competition
NONE I am connected with large Pharma in the animal health industry, local veterinarians and also run a non profit organization in my spare time (www.TracysPawsRescue.org) and other animal organizations all over the country. I have also written and published all my own material. The sale of animal products (treats, bed, etc) was implemented to help me offset the cost of producing this material. When people buy products on www.LiveLikeaDog.Press - I donate back 10% to the charity. ALL proceeds go towards the development of educational materials for children and animal charity. When Amazon smile bragged about donating ONE HALF OF ONE % - I knew I could do better. Live Like a dog donates back 20 x more and it's a win win if you love animals and kids. Most people do. Smile.
