Dear Jordie LLC | Application Preview
Dear Jordie LLC is seeking government grant funding to address current business needs, primarily in areas like office space, production, and marketing. The funds would enable the company to enhance its online presence by hiring social media experts and business operation consultants. The owner is passionate about the mission of Dear Jordie, which aims to improve mental health and self-esteem among today's youth, who face challenges related to social media pressures and unrealistic beauty standards.
The business plan identifies the need for increased exposure, noting that the brand's unique message and products can stand out in a saturated market. With grant support, Dear Jordie plans to invest in social media advertising, community engagement, and collaborations with small business groups that focus on women's empowerment.
The company addresses a crucial issue in youth mental health by connecting skincare with mental wellness, using art and affirmations in its products to foster a positive self-image. Additionally, Dear Jordie is committed to sustainability, indicating plans for environmentally friendly packaging.
While competitors like The Honest Company, Proactiv, and Evereden exist in the skincare space, Dear Jordie differentiates itself by focusing specifically on the mental health aspects of skincare for children and teens. The brand aims to create engaging, enjoyable products that encourage good habits and empower young users, reinforcing the positive transformation that the company seeks to bring about. The owner believes that with the right funding, the business can make a meaningful impact on youth well-being.

Funding Usage
Based on my current expenses and where my business is, this number would allow my business to take off. Funds would mostly be allocated for office space, production, and advertising/marketing, as that's where my business needs a boost. Hiring someone to help with my site and social media, in order to increase exposure would be highly beneficial. Hiring someone to educate me on the logistics of business operations would also be helpful. I really believe in Dear Jordie and know this company is going to help better today's youth. I would be appreciative for any grant amount.

Business Plan
I know where my company's weak spots are and one of the biggest issues I'm coming across is exposure. We need to up our social media engagement and find a way to have a bigger voice. Dear Jordie's brand is incredible and unique. There's nothing else out there like it, so I'm confident in what we stand for. With appropriate funding, we can boost social media ads, get more exposure, and invest in marketing campaigns and ads. We also plan on connecting more with the community and joining small business groups, especially ones that cater to women. We are already a creative entity, we just need to break through the saturated market. I think investing in Dear Jordie would be an honorable decision because of what we stand for. Today's youth is struggling immensely with mental health and low self-esteem. A major reason for this is social media, impossible beauty standards, falsely curated "perfection" all over the internet, and photo filters. I know it may seem silly to some, but this really is a problem and kids are fighting an uphill battle. Dear Jordie hopes to change the trajectory of how kids/tweens/teens feel about their bodies, skin and mind. We aim to be the first company that connects skin health with mental health, for all ages, but especially for today's youth. Our skincare products are not only gentle and effective, but they're equipped with powerful artwork (by black, female artist) and empowering affirmations to help create a more positive inner dialogue. We want to educate kids on how to care for the minds and bodies, because we need it so much right now. Dear Jordie's message and business model is one of significant meaning and transformation. We want to build confidence and authenticity. We also care about the environment and use recyclable packaging and biodegradable shipping gear. With appropriate funds, we'd love to move to an even more sustainable packaging, i.e. bamboo bottles.

Self Identified Competition
There aren't a ton of skincare products for kids and teens, but it definitely exists and I would consider my top competitors to be: 1.) The Honest Company (Jessica Alba's company is already a massive hit and she has developed a line for kids) 2.) Proactive (I think this is a big go-to for a lot of parents, because it's been around for a decade or more) 3.) Evereden (a beautiful brand, simple and clean ingredients) Dear Jordie hopes to change the trajectory of how kids/tweens/teens feel about their bodies, skin and mind. Our products are beautiful and engaging. They are elegant and parents have told me they've made bath time more enjoyable for their kids. Bathing and caring for your body can already feel like a chore, especially for kids, so we hope to make it fun, helping to instill lifelong healthy habits. We also have fun products for teens, as we understand stuff can be "too childish." (Too cool for school kinda thing?) We have fun, edgy products that are organic and nourishing, but made with eco-glitter, which tweens and teens seem to love. Just another creative way to help people care for their skin, that's not boring. The ad ideas I have are abundant. Just need to find a way to get there.
