Cooper Odyssey 86-1988165 | Government Grant Application

Cooper Odyssey | Application Preview

Cooper Odyssey is applying for government grants to help establish a coffee shop that aims to become a vital part of the Fortville, IN community. The funding will be used to secure a location and purchase equipment and supplies needed to launch the business.

The business plan focuses on creating a welcoming space in the first year, which will enable locals to meet and work. Cooper Odyssey intends to collaborate with schools, churches, and community centers for coffee needs. The shop will also offer rental space for small groups, addressing a gap in accessible venues in the area. In years two and three, the business plans to participate in local events to increase visibility and connections, with plans for a mobile coffee bar in years four and five for further outreach.

The applicant brings nine years of marketing experience from SaaS and tech startups, emphasizing a strong ability to adapt and make data-driven decisions. The applicant is committed to using funds wisely to enhance marketing efforts and develop the coffee shop's event business potential.

Currently, there are no major coffee shops on Fortville's Main Street, with competition being limited to nearby establishments like Schoolhouse Cafe and Rose and Lois. Cooper Odyssey's competitive advantage lies in its community-centric approach, supporting local artists and businesses to foster a collaborative atmosphere rather than operating as a standalone entity.

  • Business Plan

Growing awareness in the next 5 years will be centered on becoming a staple of the local community. In the first year, the primary focus is creating a comfortable atmosphere for people to meet and do work. We will also partner with nearby schools, churches, and community centers that need coffee for various occasions. Our interior space that is for rental will also provide a substantial income as Fortville, IN is limited on this type of space which is affordable for small groups. In years 2 and 3, we will take part in local events to branch out of our local circle, and years 4 and 5 would have us opening a mobile bar to continue that expansion. I have been a marketer for 9 years at several SaaS/Tech startups. I understand what it means to work scrappy and identify quickly what is working and what isn't driving the business forward. I am very centered around testing ideas and quickly coming to conclusions to keep driving forward. By investing in me, I won't squander the funds, but test where those funds will be best used in marketing as well as developing the space to drive event business.

  • Self Identified Competition

There are currently no major coffee shops in the Fortville Main Street Corridor. Nearby competitors would include Schoolhouse Cafe (Fishers), Rose and Lois (Carmel) and The Well (Fishers). All of these small, privately owned shops offer a unique atmosphere and blend of flavors. My organization would be different in my efforts to support and serve the local community. This would include bringing attention to local artists and artisans while also partnering with local businesses nearby to inspire more of a business community than an individual entity.
