Kid Stop 80-0387807 | Government Grant Application

Kid Stop | Application Preview

Kid Stop is a family-owned daycare business that has been operating for nearly 11 years. Recognized as an essential service during the COVID-19 pandemic, Kid Stop remained open to support the children of essential workers. However, this commitment has led to some financial challenges, prompting the need for government grant assistance to stabilize their operations and continue supporting remote learning for children.

Prior to the pandemic in March, Kid Stop expanded its capacity from 60 to 149 children and currently serves 115. The surrounding area is experiencing growth with the construction of 600 new homes, presenting an opportunity to attract more families.

In a competitive landscape featuring eight local daycares, Kid Stop distinguishes itself by offering lower tuition rates aimed at middle-class families. While other daycares have increased their prices and reduced services during the pandemic, Kid Stop has maintained its offerings, particularly for school-aged children, with 44 currently enrolled. This positions them favorably to gain more clients as families return to work and seek reliable childcare options again. With a loyal customer base and a strong community presence, Kid Stop believes it would provide a solid return on investment for the funding received.

  • Funding Usage

We were considered an essential business since the start of Covid19. We remained opened and serviced the children of other essential workers. Doing so, we dug our selves into a small financial bind as most small businesses. I would use the fund to help play catch up and keep up with the needs of the remote learning children.

  • Business Plan

Right before the Covid started in March, we had expanded our business. When we started, we only had the capacity of 60 children. We currently have the capacity to hold 149 children. We are currently at 115 right now and the neighborhood around us is currently building 600 new homes. We hope to capitalize on this opportunity. We are a family owned business. We just entered our 11 year in business. We have a strong following and continue to have old families returning as they return back to work themselves. We would be a great return on their investment.

  • Self Identified Competition

There are 8 area daycares surrounding us. Only two are family owned, the remainder are cooperate owned. I find that our two competitors are the family owned daycares. One is called Happy Tots and the other is called Fleet learning center. The cooperate daycares are 25% higher in tuition prices. They target the higher income families. We target the middle class. The other two daycares also try to target the upper class. We keep our prices lower for the middle class family. Allowing them to afford daycare and work at the same time. The other two daycares have dropped services the school age children during the covid pandemic where we have remained our services. Our school age program currently has 44 children attending. We can continue to build this program as people return to their normalcy after the vaccine comes out.
