Thriving K-9 Co Thriving K-9 Co | Government Grant Application

Thriving K-9 Co | Application Preview

Thriving K-9 Co. is seeking government grants to expand its operations by acquiring a manufacturing facility and the necessary equipment to increase production of high-quality pet treats. The owner, who has built the business over the past five years with her exceptional skills in using premium ingredients and captivating decoration, is currently facing demand that outpaces their ability to supply. Pet stores actively seek out her products due to their unique presentation and health-conscious formulations.

The competitive landscape includes firms like Preppy Puppy and Bosco and Roxy, which both use unhealthy ingredients and implement minimal decorating techniques, leading to inferior products. In contrast, Thriving K-9 Co. has developed recipes over three years that avoid preservatives, resulting in a shelf life of 18 months and a lower glycemic index with no added sugars. The company's superior decoration and excellent customer service are additional points of differentiation that contribute to its rising popularity.

Currently, the business is unable to meet demand due to limited equipment and staff, prompting the need for funding to scale operations and capitalize on the positive trajectory in the market.

  • Business Plan

We want to be able to produce treats on a larger scale so we can offer a large quantity to more stores. My wife has grown her business by herself over the last 5 years. Pet stores are seeking her business out because of the quality ingredients and impeccable decorating skills. Her cookies look like no one else’s on the market. She is now growing so fast she is having to turn stores away because we don’t have enough equipment or employees.

  • Self Identified Competition

Preppy puppy is a large wholesaler in the pet store space. Their ingredients are extremely unhealthy and full of sugars and hydrogenated oils (causes pancreatic attacks in dogs). The decorating is minimal and messy. They dunk cookies and then do minimal hand decorating. Bosco and Roxy. They also use ingredients that are not the greatest for animals. They also dunk their cookies and do minimal hand decorating. They use candy wafers (white chocolate ) as their icing. Bubba rose biscuit co. They use the icing from the same company I do. The difference with them is the cookie ingredients and the way they decorate. They lay out cookies and then pour an extremely thin layer of icing over all the cookies. They are messy just like the other companies. My spent 3 years formulating her recipes. She didn’t want to use any preservatives at all so this was a challenge. Her cookies have a shelf life of 18 months. Her recipes have minimal ingredients and are as healthy as a cookie can be. They have a lower glycemic index than her competitors and no sugar. The decorating is superior to any of her competitors and her customer service is unmatched. There are companies now sealing her out but we cannot keep up with the amount of orders.
