Tropical smoothie cafe | Application Preview
Tropical Smoothie Cafe is seeking government grants to support the acquisition of land and permanent housing for its upper-level team members. The funding will help enhance their Management Growth Track Program, designed to develop essential skills that improve employee retention and success in the workplace.
Over the last five years, Tropical Smoothie Cafe has opened five new locations, three of which are in South Carolina. Despite their success in cultivating young talent in the fast-casual food and beverage industry, they face significant challenges in retaining management staff due to competition from larger companies that can offer higher wages. Many former employees tend to leave for slightly better hourly rates, often without gaining new skills.
The Management Growth Track Program aims to provide team members with the skills needed to qualify for housing assistance. By offering stable housing, the business believes it can significantly boost the chances of success for its employees and their families.
The application argues that funding would lead to the development of better leaders, fostering stronger communities. The founder, who has over 15 years of experience in the industry, aims to equip the next generation with managerial skills, creating more jobs and potentially leading to management becoming owners of new locations.
Competitors include well-known companies like Starbucks, Walmart, and Amazon, which are challenging due to their ability to attract qualified staff. Tropical Smoothie Cafe's competitive edge lies in its commitment to providing a stable living environment, in contrast to larger companies that often have high employee turnover.

Business Plan
We currently have open 5 new businesses in the last 5 years. 3 of those have been in the state of South Carolina. The largest hurdle that we continue to run into is keeping and retaining proper management. We are a entry level job that pulls the majority of our team members from mid to low level income areas. We have had extreme success in managing and cultivating young and vibrant minds into the Fast casual Food and Beverage space. However our main obstacle continue to be retention. The fact is that we are a small business. Simply put we cannot keep up with the larger companies in our area when it comes to base pay. What we have found in the past 5 years is that the majority of our former team members make lateral moves across the business world based simply on hourly wage not obtaining any new skills and or experiences. They simply jump from job to job for 1$ more here and there. All the while still receiving there government assists in the form of housing, welfare, food stamps etc. My goal with my Management Growth Track Program would be for our TEAM members to learn the necessary skills and reach the required goals to qualify for our housing program. My believe is that if you can provide a stable home for someone and there family there chances of success and upward trajectory within the business world and life with multiply 10x! Better LEADERS will create better communities. With leadership comes success in any field. The majority of the time the skills required to become that superior leader is only obtained through trial and error, life experience ,and the ability to have a secure and safe home environment. I am an extremely successful entrepreneur for the past 15 years in the food and beverage sector. My goal now is to be able to provide the management skills and training to the next generation of men and women. By investing with me not only will I be able to create more jobs, but my hope is that my managers will become owners and we can scale much faster.

Self Identified Competition
Starbucks ,Walmart, and Amazon would be the top 3 competitors when it comes to losing qualified team members. My objective is to provide a stable home so that all members of our team families can thrive. Where as for my competitors operate as just a revolving door do to there size and scope.
