The Breast Choice Lactation Services 883295134 | Government Grant Application

The Breast Choice Lactation Services | Application Preview

The Breast Choice Lactation Services is seeking government grants to support its expansion efforts, specifically for office space and the hiring of additional staff. As demand for lactation services grows, the business aims to enhance its team and introduce digital breastfeeding courses. Acquiring a dedicated office space is expected to boost productivity and allow for serving more clients each week.

The need for funding is underscored by the limited number of International Board Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLCs), with only about 33,000 worldwide and 19,218 in the United States. This scarcity highlights the potential for business growth in this field.

The target audience includes expectant and postpartum nursing parents, as well as healthcare professionals such as pediatricians, midwives, doulas, chiropractors, and pediatric dentists. Dallas County, with 36,114 live births in 2020 and a significant population of women of childbearing age, presents a promising market.

The Breast Choice holds several advantages, including the expertise of a registered nurse and an IBCLC who emphasizes evidenced-based support. The Southern Dallas area has a shortage of IBCLCs, and the company is credentialed with BCBC of TX, making it one of the few credentials in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

While competition exists from other lactation professionals and online platforms, the company differentiates itself through its IBCLC credential, which indicates a higher level of training. Additionally, being in-network with major insurers like UHC and BCBS of Texas positions The Breast Choice favorably among a select group of providers.

In 2020, there were 36,114 live births in Dallas County. The population of women of childbearing age (ages 15-44) in Dallas County in 2020 was estimated to be 577,952. The fertility rate in Dallas County in 2020 was 62.5 per 1,000 women ages 15-44 (March of Dimes) Company Advantages I am a registered nurse and internationally board-certified lactation consultant (IBCLC) with ongoing continuing education providing evidenced-based collaborative support. The industry is still developing, and the Southern Dallas area has limited IBCLCs available. The Breast Choice is credentialed with BCBC of TX, one of only two IBCLC companies in the DFW area.

  • Self Identified Competition

Other IBCLC and lactation professionals (CLC, CBC etc) in DFW and social media. IBCLC is the gold standard in the lactation community and takes longer to acquire so this is to my advantage. I am also in network currently with UHC and BCBS of texas (only 2-3 in-network providers in the metroplex)
