Business Plan
In the next 5 years we plan to further establish our brand as greater Charleston's best dry cleaners. We would like to increase our partnerships with corporate & military contracts, expand our delivery service and grow our locations. I created Sandy’s (Dry) Cleaners in 1998 after an extremely successful career as one of the first female engineers in the state. I decided time in town with my two children, and third on the way, was most important. I took my mechanical mindset and looked for local business endeavors that would align all my skills and needs, and Sandy’s was built. Nine years later as a newly single mom of three, I continued to grow Sandy’s while battling Stage II breast cancer. Sandy’s is more than a business it’s a representation of what women can overcome and achieve with the right support, mindset and dream. COVID-19 has greatly impacted our revenue as well as the community’s need for our services during this time of transition. Our staff has overcome and stepped up in ways we never thought possible including volunteering to work making approved masks during the shut down for local government agencies, manufacturers, plants and for individuals in the area. I want to continue to serve our community and employ my amazing staff.

Our current top 3 competitors are Lyerly’s Cleaners, Chris’ Cleaners and Coastal Cleaners. Lyrely's operates among our same locations, with 6 operating cleaners in the area and offered delivery services. Chris' operates in the Mt. Pleasant area and has been established since the 80's. Chris' is our biggest competitor for this location. Coastal Cleaners operates 3 locations within our geographical area. Today Sandy’s Cleaners operates eight locations in the greater Charleston, S.C. area and offers full amenity laundering services including dry cleaning, larger scale professional cleanings including rugs, specialty rugs, drapery and linens, leather cleaning, dress preservation, uniform services, corporate dry cleaning and laundering as well as expertly skilled alterations and tailoring. Sandy’s offers a one-stop shop for all our area’s material cleaning needs, including free pick-up and delivery assistance. Sandy’s customers vary from individual blue-collar workers, military service men and women and business professionals to larger scale catering outfitters, uniformed entities, local hotels and more. Our services and prices cater to all of those in the community allowing us to help a multitude of persons in need of dry cleaning and laundering. We have standing relationships with the local colleges, hospitality associations and Joint Base Charleston. We pride ourselves on winning Charleston’s Choice for Best Dry Cleaners for three years running, the Summerville Reader’s Choice award as well as multiple nominations in the Best of Charleston.
