Edward Dunn dba Lighthouse Productions RI 018605499 | Government Grant Application

Edward Dunn dba Lighthouse Productions RI | Application Preview

Edward Dunn, operating as Lighthouse Productions RI, is seeking government grants for various essential purposes, including working capital, equipment upgrades, utility costs, hiring part-time employees, and enhanced marketing efforts.

In his five-year business plan, Dunn aims to improve profit margins by investing in more equipment and expanding his workforce to increase the number of events he can handle each year. He plans to collaborate with local businesses to foster relationships that can help both parties promote their services during events.

A key motivation for seeking funding is Dunn's desire to establish a strong business that his five children can eventually take over and grow. As a dedicated father and full-time educator, he is also committed to training employees with disabilities, providing them with valuable skills for their future independence.

Dunn recognizes the competitive nature of the wedding and event DJ industry, where many businesses vie for the same clients. Competitors often have advanced equipment and larger teams, which gives them an edge in service offerings.

However, Dunn's unique competitive advantage lies in his pricing strategy. Unlike others, he provides a transparent, door-to-door hourly rate that covers travel, setup, breakdown, and actual event time. His approach includes a personalized questionnaire that not only gathers relevant details but also offers discounts based on individual responses, allowing clients to feel valued and appreciated. This differentiation in service and pricing helps Dunn stand out in a crowded market.

  • Business Plan

Over the next 5 years with profit margins I will invest in additional equipment to hire more employees to work more events per year. I will partner with local businesses to develop relationships to assist them in promoting their businesses while doing events to draw more business while promoting my own. I am a 49 year old father of 5, as well as a full time educator looking to build and maintain this business so it will be strong enough to allow them to take over and expand it how they see fit. I have employees with disabilities that I am using the music business I am building to give them the training and skills needed to flourish on their own.

  • Self Identified Competition

There are too many competitors in my industry to find a top 3. Everyone in my industry as a wedding/event DJ is my competitor as we are all vying for the same business based on service needs. Most people that I lose bids to have higher end equipment, higher end lighting, premium sound, more people working with them and package pricing. The way I make my quotes for weddings sets me far apart from my competitors. I use a door to door hourly rate which encompasses travel set up breakdown and the event time. I include a questionnaire asking when their event is, what they majored in school and current work field, as well as how they met. I provided discounts based on their answers so they see they get credit just for being them. They see the value that I put on who they are and give them money back. Most common quotes among competitors they send the number I send how I got there.
