Bodker Insurance Agency Inc | Application Preview
Bodker Insurance Agency Inc. is seeking government grants to fund salaries and operational expenses aimed at aiding small businesses, specifically those with 2 to 50 employees, in understanding and enrolling in health insurance.
The agency plans to hire 3 to 5 full-time benefit counselors to better serve small employers in the South Texas area. The owner is passionate about the health insurance industry and believes in its educational aspect, emphasizing the importance of informed guidance in a sector where many lack knowledge, particularly affecting the Hispanic community, which constitutes 70% of their clientele.
In terms of competition, Bodker Insurance Agency faces larger brokerage firms like Marsh/Wortham and Higginbothom, which typically overlook smaller companies due to lower revenue potential. This gives Bodker a unique advantage, as they provide personalized support to businesses of all sizes, treating a company with three employees with the same care as one with thousands. This personalized service is vital for small employers who might otherwise struggle to navigate their options, ultimately ensuring they are not left without the necessary support to make informed decisions about employee benefits.

Business Plan
I would like to be able to hire 3-5 more full time benefit counselors to assist in serving the small market, 2-50, employers in the south Texas area. First I enjoy the industry and I come at it from the perspective of education. Health insurance is a right and absent of any legislation granting that right, you must have highly enthusiastic people who love the industry to help them. Further, this lack of education drastically impacts the Hispanic community. 70% of our current clients are Hispanic.

Self Identified Competition
They would be large brokerage houses, in my area, that would be Marsh/Wortham, Higginbothom, and SWBC I treat a company with 3 employees with the same personal touch I would a company with 5,000 employees. Further, these large brokerage houses don’t really want companies with less than 25 employees because there isn’t enough revenue in it for them. That leaves these Americans to figure out and navigate employee benefits on their own. Many don’t participate out of a lack of knowledge and frustration, that’s where I come in
