Barro | Application Preview
Barro is applying for government grants to establish a bakery that celebrates traditional Mexican bread and pastries. The funding will be used to purchase essential equipment like ovens and mixers, cover utility permits and rent, and hire staff. Additionally, Barro plans to invest in marketing to enhance brand visibility.
The business's five-year growth plan emphasizes targeted marketing strategies, including increased social media engagement, participation in community events, and launching an online sales platform. Barro intends to enhance customer service and establish a loyalty program while expanding the menu to cater to diverse dietary needs, including gluten-free and vegan options.
Barro stands out in the competitive landscape due to its commitment to authentic traditional products made without artificial ingredients. The bakery aims to build a social and community impact, sourcing local ingredients, using sustainable packaging, and donating surplus items. With a mission to support local youth organizations and nonprofits, Barro aspires to be more than just a business.
The business believes it deserves funding due to its experienced leadership, unique offerings, and community-oriented approach, which promises both economic benefits and meaningful societal contributions. Competitors include local coffee shops and lunch spots, but Barro's focus on genuine Mexican baking and cultural education provides a distinct competitive advantage.

Funding Usage
I would use the funding to purchase the equipment needed to have my own running bakery. This includes electric ovens, a working table, bread mixer, small table mixers, proofer, espresso machine, all the baking essentials such as bowls, scales, sheet pans and racks. It would also help cover utilities expansion permits and rent. I would also use funding to hire a couple of people. If possible, I would also invest part in marketing and advertising to further expand the brand.

Business Plan
The plan for the next five years to grow my business starts with intentional targeted marketing. This includes more interaction on social media, advertising through pop-ups and events as well as paid advertising and email campaigns. We are also boosting sales through implementing online sales, catering, and special events. We are also attending community events to get our brand known. We are also focusing more on customer service and retention. We aim to start a loyalty program to reward our repeat customers. Currently we are starting to be more involved in networking events and intend to increase our participation. This also includes increased efforts in community involvement. Barro is also developing recipes to diversify our menu as to have something for everyone. This includes gluten-free and vegan friendly items to attract new customers. Perhaps the biggest growth for the next few years is the acquisition of a store front. This would allow us to procure wholesale accounts and expand sales. All the while refining and finetuning what works and what could work better. I truly believe that I can prove my business is worthwhile. To start, I’m not new to this business I have vast experience in the food industry as well as the education to back it up. Yes, there are many bakeries and even more food establishments nationwide but very few do what I do. I make true traditional items, and not only do I bake and sell them, but I educate people in what they are and their history as well as stories that go along with specific items. I stay true to tradition and culture. It’s Mexican bread and pastries made by Mexican hands. I take pride that there are no artificial flavors or cheap shortcuts to the products we make. All the fruit flavored items are in fact made with real fruit. Currently we are looking in to expanding our menu to offer beverages which will include coffee and chocolate that come from Mexican farmers and sources. Thereby making them truly Mexican. We are striving to be more than a business; the overall goal is to be a social and community impact partner. Not only are we helping our economy but are also aiming to help the economy of our people back in our land. Despite the fact the business is fairly new we make every effort to support our community. We source the ingredients that we can from local farmers and fellow small businesses. We use environmentally sustainable packaging for our items as well as trying to reduce as much waste as possible. Any left-over items not sold we donate them to the locals and/or those in need. We also have a passion to help young people so 10% of our sales have and will continue to go to local youth organizations. We also donate some of our products to non-profits for their events or fundraisers. We are passionate about being more than just another business. We aim to be a business that makes an impact on our community. Investors should see that we are worth investing in because Barro is more than just a bakery. We have clear goals and passion that go along with them. We take nothing for granted and are constantly working hard to do what we say we’re going to do. We are constantly learning and welcome correction. We believe that you get what you invest, and we are investing in people, culture, and community. Hence, investing is us would reap many benefits more than just money.

Self Identified Competition
In my are my top three competitors would be La Perlita: This is the only Mexican themed/owned coffee shop nearby. Matutina: This is a Mexican owned lunch spot that sell some baked items Cafe Delirum: The oldest coffee shop in my area. Like I stated before, we are truly a specialty bakery. We won't compromise our standards or menu but we certainly diversify so that there is something for everyone. We aren't a bakery making items with Mexican flavors, we are a Mexican bakery making Mexican pastries with a variety of flavors.
