JOSEPH & MIRACLE ACCOUNTING SERVICES LLC is seeking government grants to help launch and expand their accounting business. The owner aims to transition from full-time employment to full-time entrepreneurship, focusing on growing a client base that can provide a sustainable income.

The business intends to utilize funds for advertising across social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram while hiring assistance for data entry tasks. The owner aims to maintain a strong emphasis on bookkeeping and high-quality tax advice, leveraging well-developed knowledge garnered from five years of study in taxation.

The application highlights the owner's unique background as a black, queer, autistic individual who is highly motivated, committed to customer service, and passionate about helping clients. This distinct identity contributes to their competitive edge, as few in the industry share this perspective. While acknowledging competition from local accountants and larger firms, the owner emphasizes their personalized approach and the ability to integrate bookkeeping with in-depth tax planning and advice, setting their services apart.

With the grant funding, the owner believes they can fully harness their skills and knowledge to enhance client experiences and grow the business successfully.

  • Funding Usage

I plan to use this money to get my business kickstarted. I have a small client base that I want to expand to become enough to live off of. I currently work full time to cover all my bills, but I would love to swap to being a full time business owner instead.

  • Business Plan

I plan to continue to advertise my business on social media, through FaceBook, Instagram, Google, etc. I want to employ somebody to help with data entry. I want to continue bookkeeping and using the financial statements to provide high quality tax advice. Investors should consider me because I am a black, queer, autistic, and extremely motivated individual. When I say I am going to get something done, I put all of my energy into it. I am nice with plenty of customer service background, so I know how to treat my clients. I have studied taxation for the past 5 years and have garnered so much knowledge that I have transferred into my career. I am excited to continue my growth as a self-employed business owner, and I want to use all of my time to better the lives of my clients while helping myself in the process.

  • Self Identified Competition

My top three competitors would include other local accountants that offer bookkeeping services. Of course, the Big 4 accounting firms are global, so they are always considered as a competitor. I also plan to expand my company beyond the local area since bookkeeping can be done from anywhere. So, in essence, anybody that provides bookkeeping is a competitor, and I cannot limit it to 3 people. However, nobody else can provide the one-on-one client relationships that are combined with the bookkeeping and tax services like I can. My background is a good starting point for this subject. I don't see many other black, queer, and autistic folks in this industry. I also am different from the average bookkeeper since I know so much about the tax consequences of bookkeeping. I can not only reconcile financial statements, but I can tell my clients how their income will impact them at a 1040 level. If they run multiple businesses, I can offer planning services to see how much taxes they should plan to pay. I can help people set up their withholdings correctly. There are many talents I hold within myself, I just need the budget to help me put those talents into full force.
