Nerdartistry is applying for government grants to support relocating their business to New Mexico. The owners, a husband and wife team, are experiencing rapid growth and need additional support as they manage their responsibilities alongside other commitments. By moving to Rio Rancho and partnering with a local seamstress, they aim to combine their strengths to further expand their offerings.
The business plan outlines their intent to expand their product line with more designs and handmade goods, targeting both online customers and local markets in New Mexico. They also envision diversifying their inventory to include supplies for seamstresses, ultimately aiming to invest in a fabric printer to produce their fabric and open a small textile shop.
Nerdartistry highlights its organic growth over the past five years, cultivating a loyal customer base with over 3,000 Facebook members. They aspire to give back to the community by creating job opportunities and fostering a creative, inclusive workplace.
In terms of competition, they acknowledge other custom fabric shops but emphasize their unique designs and commitment to customer satisfaction. Their competitive edge lies in fair pricing, quality materials, and a strong dedication to supporting the handmade goods community. They strive to ensure every item reflects excellence and aligns with their creative vision.

Funding Usage
We intend to use this funding to relocate our business to New Mexico. We are growing quickly and it has become too much for my wife and I to handle alone as I also work a full-time job while my wife runs Nerdartistry full time. We have a friend and fellow seamstress who lives in New Mexico and we would like to bring her on as a partner and move the business to Rio Rancho to allow us to continue to grow.

Business Plan
The first step is to relocate to New Mexico so that we can combine our efforts with another seamstress who lives there. Once we have made the move and partnered with her, then we intend to expand the business by providing more designs and more handmade goods to our online customers, while also expanding into the open markets in New Mexico. Once we have a foothold and begin to establish a presence, we would like to move to not only providing custom fabric and hardware, but also additional supplies that are used by seamstresses every day. Our final goal is to grow our business enough to be able to purchase a Fabric Printer and begin printing the fabric ourselves opening a small textile shop in New Mexico. My wife and I have built this business from the ground up organically and on our own. We have built a loyal customer base over the last 5 years with over 3000 Facebook group members and that is growing every day. We are creatives at heart and want to build something that gives back to the community and will eventually provide jobs for the locals in our area. We want to contribute to our community and bring unique creativity to an inclusive and inspiring workplace.

Self Identified Competition
There are several custom fabric shops out there, but none that offer the kinds of designs that we do. We truly are one of a kind with what we do and we intend to keep that uniqueness moving forward. We are different from the other fabric shops out there because we believe in supporting the community around handmade goods. We do not overcharge for our fabrics, as many of our competitors do, and we push for 100% customer satisfaction with quick turnaround times on pre-order fabrics and making sure each item sold is of the absolute best quality. We pride ourselves in the materials we use as my wife is a seamstress and will not sell or create items that she herself would not use. We are committed to bringing a creative vision to the handmade industry and supporting the community in any way that we can.
