Lawrence Orosco Distribution Company Inc | Application Preview

Lawrence Orosco Distribution Company Inc. is seeking government grants to support their business operations. The primary purpose of the funding is to maintain and repair a 2007 Isuzu delivery truck acquired from the previous owner, which is essential for timely deliveries. Specific repairs needed include new tires, floorboards, and lift-gate maintenance. These upgrades are intended to enhance safety for employees and prevent potential losses tied to truck breakdowns.

The business plan outlines a strategy of collaborating with store management to introduce more displays to boost sales. The company also aims to purchase a second route from Bimbo Bakery within the next two years to expand market reach, which will necessitate acquiring another truck and hiring additional staff. Recently, the company has added products from Barcel (Takis) and Marinela (Hispanic cookies) to their offerings and is focused on growing sales in these lines.

The applicant emphasizes a strong work ethic and extensive experience in retail, having managed Walmart for over two decades. This background equips them with valuable insights into customer service and inventory management. They also highlight a competitive advantage due to their partnerships with well-known brands like Mrs Bairds and Sara Lee, which have fostered customer loyalty.

Competition is noted primarily with Flowers Bakeries, Walmart’s private labels, and Pepperidge Farms. However, the quality of their products and effective merchandising strategies give Lawrence Orosco Distribution Company Inc. an edge in the market. Overall, the funding is viewed as a critical investment in both the business's future and its ability to serve the community effectively.

  • Self Identified Competition

My main competitor in my Walmart and FoodTown stores is Flowers Bakeries. They are mainly competitive with pre-sliced breads and Tasty Cake products. We have competitive edge them from product brand products we offer such as Mrs Bairds, Sara Lee, Ball Park, Oroweat, and Little Bites. Customer loyalty and product quality play a big factor on that. Another main competitor that I have is exclusively is Walmart and that is the store brand items that they sale. This includes Great Value bagels, certain pre-sliced breads, and their pastries. We are currently beating them out by the quality of the products and also by being stock for the customers. A final competitor would be Pepperidge Farms. They seem to offer smaller of selection products than I do but they are more of specialty breads My knowledge and experience in retail business. I have worked for Kmart for 10 years and Walmart for 21 years. I have learned how to drive business and merchandise my products.
