Koech Crane Rental 88-3596888 | Government Grant Application

Koech Crane Rental | Application Preview

Koech Crane Rental is seeking government grants to cover closing costs and fees for purchasing a hydraulic truck crane, which is essential for the business's operations. With over 8.5 years of experience in the crane rental industry and membership in the International Union of Operating Engineers, Koech aims to provide quality service through advertising and word-of-mouth in the construction sector.

The applicant emphasizes the desire to avoid outside investors during this startup phase, focusing instead on securing grants and qualifying loans to support business growth. The main competitor, Rogs Crane and Rigging, primarily specializes in rigging and presents limited direct competition due to Koech's strong ties with IUOE local 66, which prevents specific contractors in the area from using Rogs' cranes. Another competitor, Precision Crane Rental, collaborates with Koech to enhance union job opportunities, thereby creating a cooperative rather than purely competitive relationship.

Koech's competitive edge lies in extensive hands-on experience gained through a federally recognized apprenticeship program with local 66. The applicant has operated a wide range of cranes, demonstrating adaptability across various construction environments, including commercial and residential settings. Additionally, being a signatory contractor allows Koech access to both union and non-union job sites, further reinforcing its market position.

  • Funding Usage

Closing costs and fees associated with the purchase of hydraulic truck crane, necessary to run my business.

  • Business Plan

Quality service with a combination of advertising and word of mouth throughout the construction industry. I have 8.5 years of experience in this field and I am also a member of the international union of operating engineers which gives me the advantage to hire qualified crane operators as my business grows. I do not want investors at the moment. My business is just starting up and I don’t wish to have investors. I’m seeking grants and qualifying loans.

  • Self Identified Competition

Rogs crane and rigging is the biggest competitor in the area but their main line of revenue is through their specialized rigging, which is not a field i wish to compete in anyhow. They do have cranes for rent however, but cannot be used by contractors in my area who are signatory with the IUOE local 66 which gives me distinct advantages in that area. Precision crane rental is a “competitor” but they are also signed with the operators and we generally work together to Maintain union work opportunities in the surrounding area. Other than those two companies the rest of the available crane rentals are smaller tonnages than the crane I wish to buy, or they are specialized in one field such as the installation of signs. I went through the federally recognized apprenticeship offered through local 66 for 4 years. I have experience in cranes ranging from 8 us tons all the way to 300 us tons. I have run crawler cranes with 360 feet of boom and luffing jib, in industrial settings as well as boom trucks and truck cranes in commercial and residential settings. I have an immense amount of experience in all fields of crane rental construction industry. I am also a signatory contractor with the operating engineers which gives me access to union jobsites as well as non union job sites.
