Companion Sports Bodywork and Wellness LLC 804909639 | Government Grant Application

Companion Sports Bodywork and Wellness LLC | Application Preview

Companion Sports Bodywork and Wellness LLC is seeking government grants to assist with the mortgage and down payment for a larger home that will include a dedicated office and workspace. The owner plans to complete a 500-hour licensing program to begin offering massage services by January 2024. The initial plan involves renting space at a dog sports facility in Magnolia, Texas, where there is a high demand for massage services, particularly for dogs and horses involved in shows.

The business aims to tap into a growing niche in the massage industry by providing services that cater specifically to trainers, handlers, riders, and spectators at dog and horse events. The owner has identified a strong demand, especially since the chosen facility has had numerous requests for massage services but does not currently offer them.

By the end of 2024, the plan includes contracting additional massage therapists to serve both the facility and mobile clients. The competitive landscape consists mainly of chain massage facilities, such as Massage Envy and Massage Heights, which do not cater to animal massage. This unique focus, combined with the ability to provide on-site services at events, positions Companion Sports as a convenient and specialized option for a busy clientele.

Funding approval would not only support the establishment of this innovative business but also create job opportunities for other aspiring massage therapists in the area.

  • Business Plan

I plan to finish a 500 hour licensing program to start offering massage for people by January, 2024. Additionally, I will rent space at a dog sports facility in Magnolia, Texas and by the end of 2024 I plan to begin contracting more massage therapists who can work at the facility I am renting from and taking mobile calls. I will run the business from a home office. I see a lot of potential for growth in the show industry for dogs and horses, especially including massage for trainers, handlers and riders as well as any spectators. The massage industry is huge, and there are many successful businesses already in the market, but I have a niche opportunity afforded to me through my contacts in the animal sports world that allows me to build a client base where there is already a lot of demand but not yet enough businesses meeting demand. For example, the facility I will begin renting space from in 2024 sees over 100 clients daily for their specialized dog training classes and has dog shows every weekend. They currently have no one offering massage on-site and have had many requests for these services to be available. Additionally, as my understanding of the market, client base, and demand for services grows I can provide work for other contract based massage therapists in the area through my contacts and rented space. This will allow me to help other starting therapists in the future.

  • Self Identified Competition

My top competitors are chain massage facilities such as Massage Envy and Massage Heights. These spas don’t offer massage for animals and this already sets me apart. In addition to offering services for animals, my ability to be on-site at shows, make house calls and barn calls makes Companion Sports the most convenient option for trainers and handlers with busy schedules.
