LetsTalkPPCM | Application Preview
LetsTalkPPCM is applying for government grants to enhance support and resources for women affected by Peripartum Cardiomyopathy (PPCM). Their funding will focus on two main areas: screening and treatment.
In terms of screening, the organization aims to offer financial assistance to women who need tests to identify if they have PPCM, advocating for the inclusion of a pro BNP blood test for pregnant women. For treatment, many PPCM patients are losing their jobs and insurance while coping with high medication costs. LetsTalkPPCM seeks to alleviate this burden by providing financial help for prescription drugs, ensuring these women can access necessary treatments without financial strain.
The business plan is structured around five key initiatives: advancing research through translational studies, raising awareness and educating healthcare providers and the public about PPCM, implementing screening programs for early detection, supporting patients with treatment costs, and utilizing social media for educational outreach via film projects. They also aim to secure funding for their ongoing efforts, as current fundraising efforts have seen limited contributions.
LetsTalkPPCM emphasizes the importance of addressing the high maternal mortality rate linked to pregnancy-induced heart failure and believes that with government support, they can make a significant impact. While competing organizations exist, they assert their unique mission to prevent deaths from PPCM by focusing on research, screening, and financial assistance, setting them apart in their dedicated efforts.

Funding Usage
Screening- LetsTalkPPCM wants to help provide some type of financial comfort to women who develop PPCM for screening to identify a subset of the population who should have additional testing to determine the presence or absence of the disease. A pro BNP blood test is not required for pregnant women and we want to change that. Treatment- Some PPCM patients have to lose their jobs, get dropped from medicaid or no insurance at all to help pay for the type of new medication they now have to take unexpectedly to live a longer life. LetsTalkPPCM would like to provide financial relief of helping with prescription drugs cost to these patients.

Business Plan
1.Advancing Research- to capitalize on the advances that have been made in our understanding of this disease, a majority of research projects are translational in nature. Translational medical research seeks to take the medical discoveries that have been made in a laboratory setting and move them into medical practices that can be used by physicians to improve the lives of their pregnant patients. 2.Education- Many people around the world, including some physicians are not aware of this condition. Women who develop this condition usually have no prior underlying heart disease, and no other identifiable reason to develop heart disease. Their heart failure can be a temporary, self-limited condition, or can progress to permanent, severe, life-threatening heart failure. 3.Screening- LetsTalkPPCM wants to help provide some type of financial comfort to women who develop PPCM for screening to identify a subset of the population who should have additional testing to determine the presence or absence of the disease. A pro BNP blood test is not required for pregnant women and we want to change that. 4.Treatment- Some PPCM patients have to lose their jobs, get dropped from medicaid or no insurance at all to help pay for the type of new medication they now have to take unexpectedly to live a longer life. LetsTalkPPCM would like to provide financial relief of helping with prescription drugs cost to these patients. 5.Films- We have taking our social media platform to a unique way of sharing information. We now have $2 Tuesday fundraisers to help cover cost for our educational films on PPCM, but not many people donate. We are seeking other financial assistance to help fund all five of our missions. We are concerned and willing to help increase awareness, and provide assistance to women who develop pregnancy induced heart failure that can be fatal. The maternal mortality rate is very high in the USA. We can't do this alone.

Self Identified Competition
Savethemommies, PPCM fund and The Peripartum Cardiomyopathy foundation are some competitors, but not within the same state. Our organization is to help prevent women from dying from Peripartum Cardiomyopathy. We are increasing research and providing financial support for screening and treatment.
