Carrera Insurance Services Carrera Insurance Services | Government Grant Application

Carrera Insurance Services | Application Preview

Carrera Insurance Services is seeking government grant funding to support several key business initiatives. The funds will be allocated towards a down payment on a home to establish a permanent office, hiring employees, investing in new software, and potentially collaborating with a business development agency.

The business plan includes hiring a sales producer and back-office support to handle workload increases, enabling attendance at networking and educational events. There is also an intention to hire a marketing professional to boost brand recognition and explore the acquisition of a small agency for market access and additional support.

The applicant's motivation for funding approval stems from a personal journey in the insurance industry, beginning at age 20, shortly after becoming a single mother. After experiencing challenges with a previous business partner, the applicant successfully rebuilt a new agency alone. A significant aspect of the application highlights the impact of being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis at age 25, which fostered resilience and a strong work ethic despite ongoing health challenges. The desire to create a stable future and legacy for their daughters drives the applicant's commitment to business success.

In terms of competition, there are no direct top competitors within the same size bracket, but notable competitors include small to mid-sized agencies like Goosehead and Dean and Draper. The applicant identifies their competitive edge as having built the company from the ground up as a single mother, combined with a passion for helping clients navigate insurance and save money. The applicant describes themselves as determined, innovative, and tenacious.

  • Business Plan

I plan to hire a producer to help with sales and hire back office support to help with workload which will also allow me to attend outside networking and educational events instead of sitting behind a desk. Also, look into hiring a marketing person to help create name recognition. Maybe buy a small agency to help with market access and back office support. I started working in the insurance industry when I was 20 years old after having a daughter at 19. From there, I learned the ropes and finally decided to cash out my 401k to start a small insurance agency with a business partner that unfortunately had bad intentions and his own interest in mind. We parted ways and I recreated a new agency (alone) and picked back up where I left off. I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis at the age of 25 which I consider a blessing in disguise. Luckily I have been very stable and healthy. Since I caught it early, I was able to get on medication. I recently went through a low dose chemotherapy treatment called Mavenclad. This is supposed to be obe of the best medication in the market today. I have worked everyday since being diagnosed with MS at 25 and even during all treatments, I've continued to work. My diagnosis is a blessing as it caused me to not take a single day for granted. It made me work harder. When I was originally diagnosed, my manager made sure to tell me how many sick days I had left and that my bonus was affected by the number of sick days used. I never want to work for another employer again where I would be another expendable number and easily replaced. For that reason, I am determined to do anything possible to support myself and set my future up for success and leave behind a legacy for my daughters. Luckily my parents have been a big support system for me. However I am at a point where I need more help that my aging parents can not help with and my current finances do not allow for such growth.

  • Self Identified Competition

I don't have top 3 competitors in my size bracket, however, competitors are small to midsize insurance agencies such as Goosehead, Dean and Draper. I am different because I started my company from scratch as a single mother. I have a passion for what I do and I love helping people understand their insurance coverage and save them money where I can. I am determined, innovative, resourceful and Tenacious.
