Bodhi Building Ltd, dba YogaSpa 13-4134953 | Government Grant Application

Bodhi Building Ltd, dba YogaSpa | Application Preview

Bodhi Building Ltd, operating as YogaSpa, is seeking government grants to strengthen its online presence and ensure operational stability amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The funds will be used for multiple purposes, including fulfilling overdue payroll, settling supplier and rent obligations, enhancing the studio's heating and cooling infrastructure, and conducting thorough cleaning to ensure safety. Additionally, improvements will be made to the studio's appearance, including refurbishing the front desk and painting.

The business plan emphasizes the development of an online platform that showcases YogaSpa's unique characteristics. This transition aims to retain current members while reaching a wider audience, potentially increasing both membership and retention rates significantly. The grant will also help upgrade studio facilities that have not seen significant changes in nearly two decades.

YogaSpa is the first hot yoga studio in Westchester County, having served the community for nearly 20 years. As a female and black-owned business, its survival is critical, especially as it faces the economic challenges brought on by the pandemic.

Although all fitness studios are currently closed, past competition includes local businesses like Sweat Central and YogaSpark. YogaSpa differentiates itself by being the pioneer of hot yoga in the region and fostering a family-like atmosphere. The studio has a strong community focus, providing free services during crises and organizing fundraising classes to support local residents facing personal hardships.

In summary, the funding will help YogaSpa navigate these challenging times, maintain its unique business identity, and continue its commitment to community service.

  • Funding Usage

We are rapidly trying to build an online presence which reflects our studio's unique style. The online presence will help to retain our membership since we are forced to close our doors due to COVID-19. We must also fulfill payroll for those how have not been paid. Pay suppliers, rent and services owed and/or already performed. Sure up our heating and cooling infrastructure which has served us for almost 20 years, pay for in depth cleaning and disinfecting of the entire studio to remove the blight of COVID-19, paint, refurbish front desk and studio appearance to return to a safe refreshed and ready to perform staff, membership and studio. Put aside some of the funds for working capital and unexpected eventualities.

  • Business Plan

The main plan now is to develop and online presence that reflects the uniqueness of our studio. The online presence will help to retain some membership now but will also created a significant boost in membership sales and retention as it will attract a much broader national and international client base. The funds would also help to sure up our infrastructure (heating/cooling, showers, front desk, painting, etc.) that has served us for the past 19 years to give the studio a renewed fresh and welcoming space to return to remove the blight of COVID-19. We are the very first hot yoga studio in all of Westchester County and we have been servicing the community and beyond for almost 20 years. The studio has always been a female and black owned small business created, built, operated and served thousands of people for almost 20 years out of the pocket of it's sole black female owner and it's very existence is now threatened due to complete loss of income and COVID-19.

  • Self Identified Competition

Well, all fitness and yoga studios are now shut down but, in normal times competitors would be Sweat Central, YogaSpark, Rebel Yoga. We brought this type of business (Hot Yoga) to Westchester County. We still remain the premiere hot yoga studio while maintaining a warm family atmosphere which created a sanctuary to legions of longstanding loyal customers (many of them who have been members for the entire 19 years that our doors have been open). Our studio is the only wholly and solely owned black, female studio in our county and the only one has opened its doors, free of charge to the community during major crises such as 9/11, 2003 northeast blackout and Sandy, to name a few, not to mention coming creating and conducting fundraising classes for members of our specific community to help them through personal crises like cancer, hysterectomies, lossed jobs and deaths. Our study truly represents the best of what community service entity should be.
