STEMversity | Application Preview

STEMversity is applying for government grants to fund forensic workshops and lab exercises aimed at K-16 students and educators. The initiative focuses on building partnerships with schools to inspire the next generation of STEM professionals in forensic science through a program called the 'FORENSIC ACADEMY FOR STUDENTS AND TEACHERS (FAST).

The application highlights the importance of beginning forensic science education at the secondary level. The FAST program is designed to equip middle and high school students and teachers with knowledge in areas like drug chemistry, DNA analysis, toxicology, fingerprinting, and digital evidence. This educational approach integrates core science, engineering, and math concepts, and aims to enhance college readiness.

To execute this plan, STEMversity intends to implement a forensic summer academy for selected students and teachers, along with ongoing professional development and curriculum enhancements for science educators across Texas. The organization boasts a strong background in forensic training and has successfully managed multiple grants, emphasizing its capability to deliver a comprehensive and innovative training program. The collaboration with academic institutions positions STEMversity as a key partner in STEM education rather than a competitor.
