Planet ice cream 86-1217256 | Government Grant Application

Planet ice cream | Application Preview

Planet Ice Cream is seeking government grants to support its business expansion. The funding will be allocated as follows: $8,000 for a Ford transit van, $3,000 for freezers, $2,000 for product inventory, $1,000 for insurance and licensing, $2,000 for a power converter and shelving, and $1,500 for a themed paint job.

Over the next five years, the business plans to add three more trucks and one franchisee. With a simple operating model, Planet Ice Cream aims for high profit margins by purchasing ice cream bars at a low cost and selling them at a significant markup. Each bar costs around 30 cents but will be sold for $1, resulting in a 70% profit margin per unit. The primary ongoing expenses will be gas, maintenance, insurance, and product purchases, with no costs associated with a physical location.

In terms of competition, there's only one other ice cream truck in the area, and the owner is considering retirement, which opens up an opportunity for Planet Ice Cream. The business's competitive edge lies in its growth-oriented strategy, aiming to establish a presence in every town and potentially expand nationwide, leveraging the low start-up costs of operating multiple trucks.

  • Business Plan

In the next 5 years I plan to have 3 more trucks and one franchisee This business is a very simple format that has a high profit margin. Most of the ice cream bars are $7.25 from the distributor I will be using. There are 24 in a box which makes each bar roughly.30ยข. Selling each at just a dollar is 70% profit on each unit. With there being no expenses related to a building, once we are up and running the only cost is gas, maintenance, insurance, and product.

  • Self Identified Competition

There is one gentleman that is organized enough for me to find him online. There is no family safe presence in this area. The one gentleman has two trucks and is talking about retirement. We would be the only come cream truck "business" in this area other than kona ice. Our business model sets us apart from our competitors. Where most get a truck and are content with that truck , I want growth. I would like to have a truck in every town and with across the country, which is not far fetched giving the low start up cost.
