Kulmiya LLC | Application Preview
Kulmiya LLC is seeking government grants to sustain its operations amidst challenging times. The funding will primarily be used to cover lease payments, utilities, and employee wages, ensuring that the restaurant can continue serving the community. As a pillar of the local area, the restaurant aims to avoid closing permanently, especially since it embodies the dream of the owner’s mother.
The business plan involves investing in new equipment, expanding the menu with unique offerings, enhancing online marketing efforts, partnering with delivery services like Grubhub and Uber Eats, and increasing community engagement through catered events and free lunches.
Kulmiya LLC emphasizes its vital role in the Columbus community as a Somali restaurant that has been operating since 2015. It prides itself on providing good food and service to a diverse clientele, reinforcing its significance as a culturally inclusive establishment. The grant would help support a restaurant that has weathered the pandemic and continues to make a positive impact.
In terms of competition, Kulmiya faces other Somali restaurants, but it differentiates itself by offering American cuisine as well, creating a blend of cultural experiences. The family behind the restaurant is committed to welcoming everyone and sharing their unique culinary background. The unique menu has garnered positive feedback and demonstrates the restaurant's potential as a valuable investment for the community.

Funding Usage
We plan to use the funding the keep our lease paid and make sure our utilities aren't shut off. We also have to pay the employee and make sure thy have enough to get them through this trying times. We are a pillar to our community and we want to stay as long as we can to serve our people. Since we don't take loans from a bank or any other institution this grant would help us great or we risk closing up the restaurant for good. This restaurant is my mom's dream and I don't want to see her lose it. Please help us keep our employees fed and our store operating successfully.

Business Plan
Well we want to invest in new equipment, offer more unique items on the menu, advertise more on line, work with grubhub and uber eats, offer more catering and establish a greater footprint in our community by establishing community dinners and free lunches to grow exposure. I believe we offer a great needed to service to the Columbus community. We are a Somali restaurant that has been around since 2015 and our food and service is loved by people from all backgrounds (See google reviews). We make a great investment because we show up every day to make people's lives better with great home cooked meals, friendly service and a place they can relate to. There are not many diversity owned restaurants around and it's important for the city to support those who have survived the pandemic.
