The Beauty Menagerie LLC 1100014688925 | Government Grant Application

The Beauty Menagerie LLC | Application Preview

The Beauty Menagerie LLC is seeking government grants to support various aspects of its business, including payroll, marketing, office space, industrial machines, and community outreach. The company focuses on the medical wig market, emphasizing the importance of human connections and relationships in its growth strategy. Plans include hiring a full-time marketing team, collaborating with cancer organizations for community outreach, and enhancing social media presence to create a supportive community. The business aims to pay employees livable wages to enhance retention.

The application highlights a compelling narrative of hope, noting that the founder launched the business during the pandemic with premium-priced products. Despite offering health insurance options to mitigate costs, the majority of clients pay full price, showcasing a strong demand for high-quality medical wigs. The founder's personal connection to hair loss, stemming from the loss of a close friend to leukemia, fuels the passion to help others through specialized wig solutions. The founder's expertise as a licensed cosmetologist, colorist, and holder of a Master’s degree in Wig and Makeup Design further underscores the qualifications to provide natural-looking wigs.

In terms of competition, The Beauty Menagerie identifies three key rivals in the Orlando area. However, it sets itself apart by integrating the best elements of competitors' models into a streamlined, ready-to-wear product. The focus on DIY applications for safety during COVID-19, and the ability to control all design aspects by manufacturing in-house distinguishes the business. Unlike competitors who primarily cater to specific demographics or industries, The Beauty Menagerie aims to make high-quality wigs accessible to everyday consumers, alleviating the stigma around hair loss.

  • Business Plan

The way I plan to grow this business is through human connection and relationships, as I am in the medical wig business, this is essential. I will hire a full time marketing team, engage in community outreach by partnering with cancer organizations, and expose the need for the services I provide by having a social media presence to further build a community. I will also pay my employees a livable wage to better ensure employee retention. Investors should invest in me to become a part of a narrative of hope, if anything else. I opened a business during a pandemic with a high priced item. Although I offer to accept health insurance to offset the cost of the medical wig, 95% of my clients have paid full price for my product and have no recorded diagnosis related to hair loss. Millions of people suffer from some form of hair loss from chemo to alopecia and unfortunately/fortunately that number has no projections to decline. My best friend lost the battle to leukemia while in high school and there was a lot of talk surrounding her wig while she was trying to conceal her illness. I am uniquely qualified to make this specialized product because I am passionate about offering patients the most natural look. I am also a licensed cosmetologist, colorist, and obtained a Masters degree in Wig and Makeup Design. I have studied these techniques since 201, the year after i graduated high school, and I have a solution to someone's biggest insecurity. Invest in me so that I can invest in the people who are in need.

  • Self Identified Competition

My top three competitors are Capilia, Orlando Hair Systems, and Chuck Lapointe's Wig Shop. Like The Beauty Menagerie, Capilia and Orlando Hair Systems are in the greater Orlando area and potentially have the same consumers. Orlando Hair Systems located in downtown caters to a majorly male client base while Capilia offers hair loss solutions in many forms for men and women. Lapointe's shop also caters to men and women but they make all of their product in house using raw materials and is one of the most sought after wig shops in New York due to the impeccable quality of his builds. The Beauty Menagerie is different from my competitors because I have combined the best parts of my competitors' business models and streamlined a solution for my clients. We are a ready to wear medical wig business and with COVID-19 running rampant, providing easy DIY applications are important to my clients' safety. Unlike Orlando Hair Systems and Capilia, we build everything in house from raw material so that we have complete control of all design elements and most importantly, did not have to stop working do to shortage of manufactured hair pieces. Our business was created within the Pandemic and has aligned the business model to be contactless and COVID-19 safe. Chuck Lapointe is our only competitor that uses the technique that we use to construct his builds which is called ventilating; the act of hand tying each strand of hair into a honeycomb of fine lace. Although his team is larger than mine, currently, and is able to produce builds at a fast rate, Lapointe caters to the film and TV industry. The Beauty Menagerie has taken the high end quality that celebrities wear all of the time and has made it accessible for working class people who don't want their hair loss to be a negative topic of conversation.
