Special Victims Unit For Law & Action Inc N20000005578 | Government Grant Application

Special Victims Unit For Law & Action Inc | Application Preview

The grant application from Special Victims Unit For Law & Action Inc. aims to secure funding to provide comprehensive support for survivors of domestic abuse. The organization plans to offer financial assistance for legal counsel to ensure fair representation in court. Additional support will include help with relocation costs, short-term housing, securing safe living environments, and allowing survivors to keep their pets through partnerships with shelters. They will also provide job training, financial counseling, and childcare options.

The business model envisions the growth of a sustainable non-profit organization that focuses on a variety of support services, advocacy, and education tailored to the unique needs of abuse survivors. By staying attuned to evolving trends and survivor needs, SVULA seeks to collaborate with other agencies, conduct fundraising, and engage in community outreach to amplify their impact.

The application emphasizes the uniqueness of their program, as it addresses gaps in current services, which often only provide referrals without significant emotional or practical support. The initiative aims to break the cycle of abuse by helping individuals regain control over their lives and access the necessary resources to thrive.

SVULA asserts that no other organization offers the same level of immediate, practical assistance without the need for survivors to navigate multiple programs. They also highlight the importance of addressing financial abuse, a critical barrier to leaving abusive situations. By providing holistic support, including help for veterans, the disabled, and the elderly, SVULA seeks to create a more just and supportive environment for all survivors.

  • Funding Usage

We will provide financial assistance for survivors to obtain legal counsel trained in domestic abuse to represent them in court so the playing field is fair. We will provide assistance with moving, pay for short term hotel expenses, help with relocation, and/or making sure you find a safe home for you and your children complete with security camera systems, we will work with shelters and other programs to make sure they can keep their pets. We will also provide financial counseling, job training, and in some cases child care so abuse survivors can get the help they need. We will also have a dedicated team to help people with disabilities and educate them on their rights! We will also need fundraising staff, administrative assistants, an accountant, an office, office equipment, and lots of prayers.

  • Business Plan

Our projections are that this initiative will grow into a large non-profit entity offering diverse support services, education, and advocacy for the various reasons we started SVULA, Inc. By keeping track of technology, trends, and the needs of abuse survivors through the information that is collected, we will be able to partner with other agencies, host fundraisers, utilize the internet blogging features, along with speaking engagements of survivors and how we have affected their lives. It is also very important to bring in financial advisors and grant writers to utilize all opportunities available to us, provide new jobs, get training, provide training for law enforcement, judges, and advocates. There is no other program that exists like ours, I have based on personal experience put together everything it would have taken to help me succeed sooner. I really want to work towards making it easier for domestic abuse survivors to get the REAL assistance they need. Our program is designed to be a catalyst that opens doors to help women and men within our communities stop being victims in the legal system, courts, and society so they can move ahead instead of staying trapped in a never-ending cycle, that will only create another generation of abused, and hurting people.

  • Self Identified Competition

At this time there are no programs as specific as ours. National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, Domestic Abuse Intervention Services, and a group called CASA that provides some referrals, survivors need more than just a referral, they need real emotional support, real services that are available to them immediately, and people that want to see and end to the cycle of abuse that keeps growing from one generation to the next stopped. No other platform will provide financial assistance to address real concerns without sending abuse survivors to another program. They already feel defeated, so sending them from place to place to replay their abuse again just so they can get food, shelter, shoddy legal help, can be emotionally draining to someone who has just lost their home, pet, family member, or job. Our goal is to assist with debt management through counseling and education programs. I want to find out the gifts inside each individual and educate them on how to utilize those gifts to become successful. It is becoming more necessary to help survivors with their moving expenses due to having to leave their homes, foreclosure or other housing issues. Survivors need access to attorneys fees so that the playing field can be fair in court, they need good strong vetted attorneys to help them fight for their rights, did you know financial abuse is the number 1 reason women stay in their marriages? It was the main reason I stayed in mine, I had no place to go so I want to be able to provide these survivors with real housing assistance, so they can say NO! No other service is currently available that is providing the support for these families that I believe we can. We will assist Veterans, the disabled, and the elderly. I am hopeful other programs will join with us to make us stronger, more efficient, effective, and stop the abuse!
