Robyn's Pet Grooming Studio 018197069 | Government Grant Application

Robyn's Pet Grooming Studio | Application Preview

Robyn's Pet Grooming Studio is applying for government grants to fund the construction of a pole barn/shop and the necessary interior improvements. The funding will support electrical work, HVAC installation, concrete flooring, drywall, painting, lighting fixtures, as well as additional kennels and grooming equipment.

The business aims to expand its offerings by establishing a grooming school, addressing the lack of educational facilities in Oregon and the existing shortage of trained groomers. The plan also includes providing boarding services for customers, further enhancing the business's appeal.

Robyn emphasizes the significance of this funding by highlighting her commitment to training others, which will not only benefit the local community but also the state. Many local groomers are uninterested in hiring or training new staff, contributing to the shortage of qualified groomers.

In terms of competition, the main competitors are Mystic Grooming in Banks, Katie's Wash & Wag in Forest Grove, and Wilco Farm Store in Cornelius. Robyn's competitive advantage lies in her current staff of 5-6 employees, which enables quicker openings for appointments and the capability to service larger dog breeds that many local shops avoid. Additionally, her willingness to teach grooming sets her apart from competitors who do not prioritize training new groomers.

  • Funding Usage

A pole barn/ shop, and the constructing of the space inside... which will include electrical work, heating and air installation, concrete flooring, drywall, paint, lighting fixtures, more kennels and grooming tables & grooming equipment, etc...

  • Business Plan

My plan is to add-on to this already successful business by giving us more space to teach people who would like to learn how to groom pets. The state of Oregon has 0 grooming schools currently, and we have a groomer shortage to deal with. I hope & plan to open an accredited Grooming School & to offer boarding for our customers as well. Because I am willing and able to invest in others which will help this trade to continue in not only our community, but our State as well. I am friends with several other groomers that have shops around here and they don't want to employ or train people... which creates a shortage of knowledgeable groomers.

  • Self Identified Competition

Mystic Grooming in Banks,Or. Katie's Wash & Wag in Forest Grove, Or Wilco Farm Store in Cornelius, Or One of the differences is that I employ 5-6 other people currently, which allows us to have openings sooner for customers to get in. It also means that we are better able to work on bigger breeds, that many shops turn away (which is a huge problem in our area as we have many residents with large properties/ farms and large dogs) Another difference, is that they aren't interested in helping anyone else learn to groom.
