A&F Roofing & Construction LLC A&F Roofing & Construction LLC | Government Grant Application

A&F Roofing & Construction LLC | Application Preview

A&F Roofing & Construction LLC is seeking government grants to address various financial challenges and enhance its business operations. The funding will be allocated to pay back a lumber yard, cover overdue business expenses, purchase essential tools, pay taxes, and improve advertising and job listings.

The company's long-term business plan focuses on increasing visibility through enhanced advertising and job postings over the next five years. This increased visibility is expected to attract more clients, allowing for the expansion of the team and enabling the company to handle multiple projects simultaneously. Ultimately, the goal is to generate higher income, which can be reinvested into further equipment and team growth.

The application emphasizes the company's local ownership and veteran status as compelling reasons for funding approval. The owner has extensive experience in construction and has persevered through numerous challenges, including financial setbacks due to a business partner's embezzlement and the theft of a work trailer. Despite these hardships, the owner remains committed to building a successful business and views the grant as an opportunity to refocus on growth instead of merely surviving.

In terms of competition, A&F Roofing faces challenges from Diaz Roofing and Heinz Construction, both known for low-cost services but subpar quality. A&F Roofing differentiates itself through a strong emphasis on quality workmanship and customer service. The owner’s extensive industry knowledge and commitment to detailed, face-to-face interactions with clients set the company apart. Additionally, A&F Roofing offers discounts to fellow veterans, further enhancing its community ties and customer loyalty.

  • Funding Usage

I will use the funding to pay back lumber yard and to help pay for business expenses that I am behind on. I would also purchase tools that are needed to continue with my business. And I would also use the funding to help pay taxes, as well as improve our advertisements and job listings.

  • Business Plan

I would like to use this grant towards more advertising and job postings within the next 5 years. If I can enhance my advertisements and get my business more well known within the Madison area, I will be able to grow my team. With a larger team, I will be able to do more jobs at once, which will help grow my business. With more jobs, that means more income, which will allow me to purchase more equipment, resulting in more jobs, more people and over growth in my business. Investors should invest in me, because I am the example of an all american locally owned business. I am a veteran owned company, and started with nothing and only continue to grow. I am an incredibly hard worker and have been working in construction since I was 14 years old. I eventually worked my way up and gained enough experience to go out on my own with a business partner. Unfortunately, this was only a few years before COVID, so when our company was finally starting to become well known, the world was shut down. Within the next year, my business partner embezzled $5000 from the company, which was supposed to go towards are taxes for that year, leaving me with the dept. My business partner ended up signing everything over to me, and I had to pay the $5000 out of pocket. Even though this was a curve on my path to a successful business, I continued to work hard and keep the A&F Roofing and Construction name strong. My business started to grow more and more and I felt I was finally getting on top of it again. In February of 2023, my entire business trailer was stolen outside of my house in Evansville, WI. One of the safest towns in Wisconsin. I had multiple locks on it, including a ball chain lock and it was stolen in the middle of the night while I was away at training for the Army. I was left feeling hopeless and with nothing. My friends and family pulled funds together, and I was able to purchase a new trailer and some new tools, but still feel behind and like I'm barley keeping my head above water. With this grant, I would be able to start fresh and be able to focus on my business and not just surviving day to day.

  • Self Identified Competition

Diaz Roofing - this company is a huge competitor, because they underbid every job and have low costs, but the quality of work is not even close to my company. The employees of Diaz Roofing have minimal training and are more focused on getting the job done quick, rather than paying attention to detail and doing the job correctly. Heinz Construction - this company has endless advertisements, but have the same quality of work as Diaz Roofing. They are able to obtain a lot of business because of their multiple advertisements, but I have received multiple calls from home owners complaining about their work after it is finished and asking me to come and fix it. What makes A&F Roofing and Construction different from my two main competitors is that I am incredibly knowledgeable in this industry. As I've said in other answers, I've been working in this industry for 15 years and have learned from Helmer Construction directly, which is a very well known company for quality work in the Madison area. Unlike my competitors, I meet with every home owner face to face and go over ever detail with them regarding their home. I am very quick to response to emails and calls, and make time for all my home owners. A&F Roofing and Construction is also the only veteran owned construction company in the area, which we do provide 10% off to any veteran. I make sure all of my employees go above and beyond and only provide exceptional work. I am not concerned about getting jobs done quickly, I want them done correct with beautiful quality. I don't see these homes as just dollar signs and fast cash, I see them as projects and work that I want to be proud of. I want homeowners to be happy with my work and not have to worry about their home and spending even more money.
