Fleming's Tree Care | Application Preview
Fleming's Tree Care is seeking government grant funding to upgrade their application equipment, moving from a small 50-gallon tank to a 300-gallon rig with a heavy-duty pump and engine. This upgrade will allow them to serve a broader range of customers and handle larger trees.
The business has already established a reputation with five-star reviews on Google and anticipates growth of over 50% through a combination of word-of-mouth referrals and online advertising strategies, including Google Ads and SEO. Plans for the future include hiring five additional employees and generating over $750,000 in revenue within the next five years.
The grant application highlights the company's existing success with over 40 satisfied customers. The owner has obtained qualifications to sell and apply pesticides and fertilizers, which will enable them to offer ongoing preventative services. This approach involves multiple yearly treatments for customers, providing a reliable revenue stream with minimal liability.
Fleming's Tree Care faces competition from established firms like Great Western Tree Care and Knothead Tree and Lawn Care, both of which the owner has experience working for. Despite this competition, the owner believes their deep roots in the community and dedication to providing high-quality arborist services set them apart. Being locally entrenched, the owner emphasizes a commitment to responsible practices that prioritize the health of both trees and the environment over profit.

Funding Usage
New application equipment. We currently have a very small, cheap setup that can only hold 50 gallons. A new rig would include a 300 gallon tank, a heavy duty pump and engine so we can service a larger demographic with larger trees.

Business Plan
We already have 5 star reviews on Google. With word of mouth advertising and additional advertising like google ads and SEO work we're expected to grow over 50%. Continued education, getting ISA certified and evolving with the industry. We plan to bring on 5 additional employees and have a target of $750 + within the next 5 years. We already have proven success with 40+ happy customers. During the slow season I went and got my QS and Ornamental license to be able to sell and apply pesticides and fertilizers. I can sell services to past customers and new customers. Preventative services consist of multiple treatments a year and need to be performed every year. Very low liability with very profitable gain.

Self Identified Competition
Great Wester Tree Care a company providing very similar services. I actually was a their Plant Health Care Manager for over a year before starting our own business. Great Western Tree Care is a million dollar company. Knothead Tree and Lawn Care a company also providing similar services. I also worked for this company for over 3 years as their Plant Health Care Manager before going to Great Western. savAtree is a very large company that bought the 2 largest companies here in Colorado a few years ago. They provide similar services with hundreds of employs. I have lived in Castle Rock, CO my whole life. This city has grown immensely with new home developments which includes new trees and landscapes that need attention. I am very driven to be the best arborist possible. I am in control of everything when it comes to my business. I set aside days to do sales and customer relations, I then perform all tasks, scheduling, invoicing, etc. Once it comes time to hire we will be very thorough and diligent in selecting responsible individuals. I know Douglas County very well and take pride not only in my work but where I'm from and live. I will never sell or perform tasks to make money, I want to do what's right for the trees and our environment.
