Soggy Doggy Woodworks | Application Preview
Soggy Doggy Woodworks is seeking government grant funding to enhance its services focused on wildland fire preparedness in southern Oregon. The owner, with over ten years of experience in wildland fire management, technical tree removal, and construction, aims to establish a comprehensive company that not only assesses community needs but also creates and implements detailed preparedness plans for private property owners.
The business plans to fill a crucial niche in Oregon and California while potentially expanding to other states affected by wildland fires. Its goal is to become a key resource in bridging the divide between landowners and the various government agencies involved in wildfire preparedness. Additional funding will be used to acquire necessary equipment and hire staff, enabling the business to expand its impact effectively.
In advocating for funding approval, the owner emphasizes a strong commitment to this work and a vision to protect properties from wildfires, addressing the significant gap in public knowledge regarding effective fire prevention strategies. The owner believes that with the right support, they can significantly contribute to addressing the wildfire crisis.
Notably, there are few direct competitors offering the same comprehensive services, as existing businesses typically focus on singular aspects such as construction or firefighting. The owner’s diverse background—from elite firefighting roles to arborist and construction experience—provides a unique advantage. Having witnessed the devastation of wildfires firsthand, the owner is motivated to create a larger, impactful service model that prioritizes fire-resistant property and community resilience in the Pacific Northwest.

Funding Usage
The plan for this money is to take this business to the next level and provide the communities of southern Oregon with a much needed service . My plan is to create a comprehensive company that can assess needs, create a preparedness plan and implement the needed work to the home and landscape on the private property owners. My 10+ years of wildland fire experience and knowledge of technical tree removal as well as construction experience make my business an ideal cantidate to attepmt to bridge the gap between city, county, state and federal agencies and the land owners that need their properties worked on. I need some capitol to purchase more equipment and hire a couple employees so I can take a real run at making this all happen.

Business Plan
The plan is to move my business into a much need niche in Oregon and California and hopefully to other states that are heavily affected by wildland fire as well. I want this company to become a staple in the wildland fire preparedness world and bridge the gap between land/property owners and the government agencies that regulate and implement preparedness for wildland fire. I want to grow the business and purchase equipment and hire employees very soon. I deserve to be invested in because I have a passion for this work and a vision for the future. This isn’t just a successful business idea this is a plan to save private property in the communities of our great nation. There’s a large gap between public knowledge of what works to save a home from fire and the people that have the knowledge to do the work and I want to close that gap. I have no doubt in my mind that with the proper support I can make a large impact on our nations wildland fire crisis.

Self Identified Competition
There really are no competitors for the type of business I am trying to creat. Sure there are builders and tree services and private wildland firefighting companies all around me in southern Oregon but not a single one of them is providing the comprehensive planning and work I provide. I am different because I have so much various experience. From working on the forest service elite hotshot firefighting crews and Calfire to learning how to climb trees and do arborist work and how to build homes from the ground up. I’ve been a part of every aspect involved in creating a hardened structure and landscape that will survive wildland fire. I’ve seen my entire community burn to the ground as well as countless others and I’ve been there to rebuild them. It’s time I took a leap to create something bigger and more important than providing any single service to the property owners of the Pacific Northwest.
