Grounds for Dismissal LTD | Application Preview
Grounds for Dismissal LTD is seeking government grants to fund essential business needs, including professional signage, advertising, and kitchen inventory. The business aims to become a welcoming community hub where locals can gather and enjoy quality food and coffee. Co-presidents Korah Sevier and Carissa Beauchamp are determined to make this shop a success, leveraging their personal experiences and strong commitment to customer service.
Korah has overcome significant challenges, including a cancer diagnosis, which has fueled her determination to excel. The couple currently funds the business out of pocket but is facing financial difficulties.
In terms of competition, they face established brands like Sonder Coffee, Starbucks, and Dunkin' Donuts, which focus on speed and convenience. However, Grounds for Dismissal stands out due to its personal touch and inviting atmosphere, with the owners actively engaging with customers and creating a cozy environment for all. Their unique approach positions them well to attract customers seeking a more authentic experience.

Business Plan
Our goal us to grow enough to be a cozy and welcoming focal point for our community to gather. Our space is so open and beautiful, full of such a positive working flow. We hope to spread the word of this beautiful community space and allow our fellow coffee and food lovers to enjoy it with us. This opportunity to run this shop has been a once-in-a-lifetime chance for my wife & I, and we want to nourish it and see it bloom to it's full potential. Having persevered & grown through a teenage Thyroid Cancer Diagnosis during high school, Korah Sevier (Co-president) has thus made it her life determination to achieve the absolute best possible results in everything she sets her mind to, as quickly and efficiently as possible. Her wife, Carissa Beauchamp (Co-president), has been by her side since freshman year of highschool, and has pushed herself to create and flow through this business and how it is presented to the community. Right now we are doing everything out of pocket, but struggling.

Self Identified Competition
Sonder Coffee- Franchised fast but local craft coffee shop across the street from us. They have a few locations. Most of their products are made with extravagant ingredients that don't appeal to the general public, and a majority of their runoff customers come over to our shop. Starbucks- Corporation. Fast paced and un-personable. Convenient with a drive-thru. Dunkin' Donuts- Corporation. Fast paced and un-personable. Convenient with a drive-thru. We are majorly different than all competitors. We have extremely personable ways we carry ourselves. Our guests love the fact that we own the business and operate it as well. We are the only faces of this company, Carissa runs the kitchen and Korah the Front of House. Our space itself is very homey and inviting, it is glass windows with a classy and industrial feel, filled with multiple sitting couches, tables, working tables, and conference rooms available for free public use.
